But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me — she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
The entrance of sin affected normal fellowship between God and man and even marred their relationship. God came calling for man, man could not respond as before but reacted abnormally. There are various ways people react when they hear the voice of God. Such ways are:
- Hiding v10: Many would hide like Adam and Eve on hearing the voice of God. The truth is that man has no hiding place before the eyes of his creator. Many hide under the cover of various things especially when God is calling for a responsibility. Such things like; I don’t have time, no enough resources, I can’t leave my profession, etc. The naked truth is that God sees and knows you better then you know yourself (Ps. 139:7-12). If Adam and Eve could not hide from God, do you think that you can? It is a waste of time trying to hide for your sins must find you out (Num.32:23b).
- Resistance Ex. 4:1,10,13: Resisting God’s voice leads to pain, excruciating experience, bitter pill, unhappiness, etc. Resisting God’s word causes failure and stagnation in the life of a person. Nothing moves for such until he or she obeys God’s voice. The more you resist, the more you mark time at your place, position and situation. Know for sure that you cannot win any battle against God.
You have limited time to live here on earth. Don’t waste the time you have to live for God and serve him in any capacity by resisting his voice. Remember you are created for a purpose and you are positioned wherever you are for work. Don’t resist the voice of God thereby waste the time allotted for you to serve in this life.
This week I pray that your fellowship with God shall not be broken. May you remain obedient to God in keeping his commandments and living to his glory in the name of Jesus Christ.
See you next week if Christ tarries. Come Lord Jesus!
