1 Peter 1:15 – 16

15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

We who believe have been called into a life of Holiness. Peter explains in 1 peter 1: 6 – 7 how staying Holy is a proof of our genuine faith in Jesus Christ. Many people confuse mere Church goers with transformed Children of God (Those who have confessed and believed in Jesus Christ). There is a doing in believing, Jesus asking Peter the same question three times told him, If you love me, feed my Sheep (John 21:17).

I believe the Lord was trying to let Peter know there is an action in believing.  Genesis 15:6 tells us of Abraham’s faith being counted as righteousness. Abraham had faith in the Lord to the point of Obeying to sacrifice his ONLY  Son when asked by God. The genuineness of his faith was tested before it was accredited as righteousness.

For all of us who have believed in the Lord Jesus, the genuineness of our faith is being tried and will continually be tried until the coming of our redeemer, Jesus (1 Peter 1:7).

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12)

Let us therefore stand firm, knowing fully the genuineness of our faith is being tried daily. God proved his true love by giving up his ONLY son, Abraham accepted to give up his ONLY son to prove his faith was genuine. What are does things we have to give up? Jesus demands our all (Luke 14:25-27).
