Unbelief: A hindrance to witnessing God’s power

Mark 6: 1- 6

Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed.

“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph,[a] Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.

Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.

Disbelieving in the person or power of Jesus Christ deprives us of experiencing His deliverance. Jesus worked into His home time with the aim of delivering many people as had been His character in other places, however, due to the peoples’ overfamiliarity of Him they couldn’t receive God’s blessings. Since they knew His root, the doubted Him as the solution to their problems.

What do you know about God? How do you see Him? Have you set a limit in your heart of what God can do? Beloved, for issues regarding our God… leave your mind totally open, God can do and will do far above your expectations. Understand that there is no limit with God.  Ephesians 3:2o says “Now to Him who is able to do infinitely more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us,”. What power is at work within you? Surely as a child of God, the power of God is at work within you. However, has unbelief set a limit to the extent God’s power can be revealed in your life?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus help my unbelief. Forgive me for thinking you are unable to save me. I surrender myself to you totally, do what only you can do.

Fostering unbelief is making God a liar in your life
