‘“They will be mine,” says the Lord Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him.’ Malachi 3:17 (NIV).
possession are those who faithfully serve Him. In Exodus 19:5 God made a promise to the Israelites when He said, “Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession.” This promise still holds true all of the time to believers today. God keeps His promises and we are still His treasured possessions.
We are God’s chosen treasure. The Hebrew word is ‘segulla’, which means ‘a special treasure or possession.’ It is used to describe guarded wealth, indicating the placement of the king’s jewels or treasure in a safe, protected place because of their extraordinary value. God says that each believer is His unique and special treasure of great importance. We are a treasure above all other treasures!
Let’s just sit and let that idea settle into our hearts. If we came into possession of a chest full of jewels and precious stones, wouldn’t we determine to keep it in a safe and guarded place? To protect it from thieves and damage? Wouldn’t we enjoy opening the lid and marveling at its beauty and attractive qualities? Holding each piece tenderly up so that the light would shine through and cause brilliant colors to dance around the room? Could it be that God does just the same to those who are faithful to Him and love Him dearly?
‘Lord, I cannot thank you enough today for your love towards me. Help me to follow you faithfully. The rewards of being your treasured possessions are beyond counting. Thank you.’
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
God guards us. God keeps us safe. God delivers us from the evil one.
God marvels at our beauty in Christ. God leads us into work where His light can shine through us creating colors of brilliance for all to enjoy, especially Him. And God will continue to hold us in His loving hands throughout all eternity.
We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and His treasured possessions.
Be Greatly Blessed!
