“Be careful,” Jesus said to them. “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Right from the beginning, Jesus warned His disciples about the teachings of the Pharisees. He instructed them, Be on your guard.
Passing through a military checkpoint you will find soldiers on guard, prepared to defend themselves against any attack from the enemy. A soldier on guard takes into consideration whatever comes around his vicinity, he examines the movement of people around him and ensures his security is in no way jeopardized. This same instruction Jesus gave to us. Be on your guard, defend yourselves against false teachings as false teachers are sure to come by.
In other for the soldier on guard to effectively defend himself, he understands the schemes of the enemy and equips himself to be always ahead of the enemy.
The word of God is our sure defense against false prophets. The word of God builds our foundation and gives us a firm knowledge about the strategies Satan uses in deceiving people.
Child of God, stay on your guard, feed yourself with the word of God, and always pay great attention to what you hear. It is your responsibility to judge all spirits, whoever is born of God produces good fruit. Fruit never refers to gifts of the spirit but rather as mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23; It is the product of the presence of the Holy Spirit available to the sons of God.
