1 peter 1:18 – 20
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life you inherited from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot. He was known before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sake.…
As a christian i used to think that, you just need to relax and let God help you out of a temptation. No need for any effort in trying to find out what God wants you to do, he will definitely lead you into it. In short my words were “What will be will definitely be”.
I believe many of us Christians are in this situation today. That is the reason why when faced with a temptation we weakly say “please God help me”, fall into the sin, and after pray for forgiveness asking for more grace (when you already have abundant grace given to you).
Of a certain, God is willing to help you, and he has been helping you. But one thing we fail to understand is that God will never force you to serve him, he will never push you out of that sin: it is totally your choice to make. The choice you make when faced with a tempting situation, is either a holy sacrifice to God, or a betrayal of Jesus Christ.
God loves loyalty, it gladdens his heart. If i force or play with your mind for you to serve me, have i really won your heart? i don’t think so, God wants a generation he has really won their hearts. Free men that have restricted their freedom to doing God’s will.
Imaging the value of God’s sacrifice, John 3:16 tells us that God sacrificed his only son. How much sacrifice do we give God? When tempted, how do we respond? do we walk sluggishly or do we flee like Joseph, totally rejecting such ungodly offer.
Pretense should be far from us. Some people say no to certain sins just because such sin has not been properly garnished: perhaps a higher amount of bribe is fine, a prettier lady may be considered for fornication. Our hearts must be totally sold out to doing God’s will. God paid so much for us. we must serve him even when it is not convenient for us.
What really is the value of your sacrifice. Remember, God searches the deepest part of our hearts.
Prayer: Pray for a deeper transformation, even as we go into a new year, our lives must be transformed, moved away from compromise totally.
