The Shepherd Voice

DevotionsThe Shepherd Voice

John 10:1-4

1 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way (elsewhere, from some other quarter) is a thief and a robber.

2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

3 The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out.

4 When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice

The voice is known for representation, it is used for detection, it is used for identification. Most times people identify us by the tone of our voice. İn John 10:1-4, Jesus was referring to himself as the good shepherd who was going to enter through the door to redeem us so that we can have life in abundance. Today, He stands at the door, knocking and calling our names so that we can follow him into glory, many do not hear him because they are distracted by issues of the world. Though they may hear many voices calling out their names, there is only one true voice which we must pay attention to, and that is the voice of Jesus. You can hear the voice of Jesus only by submitting your life to him.

The loving part is that the more you pay attention to the voice of Jesus, the more you adapt to his voice and when you adapt to his voice, you replicate his true natüre of a shepherd  so that when people come to you for help you no longer speak for yourself but the voice that dwells in you speaks. İt is so precious to know that his voice is his Spirit.
