The Great Commission

Wherever you are now as a child of God is not by coincidence, you have been sent there to continue with the mandate Christ handed to believers and His disciples. Spread the Good News of Salvation to whoever you come across

Isaiah 61:1-3

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

In our different professions and callings in life, there is only one target and goal; “The Great Commission”, the mandate Christ handed over to us His followers, to ‘win souls for the Kingdom. Jesus says in the Book of Mark 16:15. Go into the world and preach the Good News to all creation. Mathew 28:18-20. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age”.

Wherever you are now as a child of God is not by coincidence, you have been sent there to continue with the mandate Christ handed to believers and His disciples. Spread the Good News of Salvation to whoever you come across. At your job site, at home, among your peer groups, keep spreading.

How can we spread the Good News of Salvation? We can’t talk about someone we don’t know well. By studying the word of God, we know the mind of God and what He expects from us. Make it a habit to study the word of God daily and with the help of the Holy Spirit, He will open your eyes to deep revelations. The Holy Spirit is our counselor. Christ says in John 14:26 But the counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said. Praise God!

Our lifestyles also should be that which someone can see and say truly this is a child of God. If you preach the word and your character does not reflect that of Christ, those you preach to won’t take you seriously. See the life of Daniel. Daniel did not have to preach to the king and his subordinates. His character of prayer proved to them that he was a child of God and when God delivered Daniel from the den of lions, the king passed a decree for everyone to fear and reverence the God of Daniel (Dan 6:1-26).

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to eat the king’s food, and when they were thrown into the lake of fire, the Lord rescued them and the king passed a decree that the people of every nation or language who say anything against their God be destroyed ( Dan 3:1-29).

In our various areas of calling, are we compromising with evil or preaching the Good News of Salvation? We have been given the mandate by Jesus Christ to preach the Good News to the poor, to bind the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for my those who grieve in Zion. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can and can do even greater things, Jesus said.

Take up the mandate where you are and Christ has promised us to be with Him in Glory when our work here on earth is over.

Hallelujah. Amen!
