24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Jesus speaking in parables reveals the choice a man can make: To listen and put his words into practice or to neglects his words. Whoever listens and puts his word into practice is like a wise man who builds his house upon the rock, whoever rejects his word is like a foolish man who builds his house on the sand.
There must be a choice, no man can stand in the middle, its either we are wise or foolish… once we reject the voice of the Lord, we have chosen the paths of the foolish man leading to destruction, but when we listen to the voice of the Lord and obey, we become wise, having a stable foundation that can never be moved.
A house on the rock is not tossed around by happenings around. The word of the Lord gives us the ability to stand firm. Be wise, remain on the rock, always listen to the voice of the Lord and obey.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Your word is life Lord, your word is the strength I need to carry on, help me to hear your voice and always follow. Amen!
