Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all’ 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 (NIV).
Here on earth, our bodies are ageing each day. While it is not obvious day by day or even year after year eventually our worldly bodies grow old. Our spirits, however, can be renewed each day through the Lord. How can we do this? By focusing on our relationship with the Lord.
What gets in the way of being renewed each day? In today’s world, there are so many distractions. Companies market their newest creations with flashy visuals. People seek success at the expense of others. So many can fall into these traps, perhaps you have at some point.
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal”. This is an important passage to consider. All of the things you see will one day cease.
There will come a day in which you are reunited with the Lord and it will not matter what version of cell phone you had, or how nice your home was. These things all become trivial in the end. For this reason, instead fix your eyes towards your relationship with the Lord, for that is eternal.
“Lord, please help me to focus on my relationship with you. There are many distractions in the world all vying for my attention and I do not wish to pursue these worldly things. Help me to focus less on material objects and more on my spirituality. Help me to be more appreciative of what I already have”.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
Do you find yourself caught up in worldly possessions? So many get caught up in the pursuit of physical goods that they neglect the spiritual and mental aspects of their lives. Focus not on the latest and greatest and instead on improving your relationship with the Lord. If you haven’t had a chance to pray today perhaps now is the perfect time:
Do not get caught up in the race to have the nicest or newest of goods. It is a pursuit that ultimately will be unfulfilling and meaningless. Instead focus your efforts towards the unseen, for that will be eternal. You may age and your goods become outdated, but by focusing on the Lord your spirit will be renewed day by day eternally.
Be Greatly Blessed!
