Text: John 10: 10. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.
Today’s devotional would expose the tricks of the devil and teach us on how to fight temptations.
The devil’s scheme of tempting man has always been on the basis of the same trick he used on Jesus.
Satan tempts our appetite for food, power and our Faith in God and His word.
The Bible says, no man should say he is tempted of God when tempted, for every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust an appetite. James 1:13-14.
Jesus taught us to pray not to fall into temptation. Matthew 6:12.
Another good news is that God will never allow the tempter to tempt us more than we can bear. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
The enemy wants us to turn stone into bread.
The Bible tells us that as Jesus was hungry after the long prayer and fasting, the devil came to tempt Him with food.
The enemy wants us to skip processes.
Turning Stone to bread is a devil’s scheme of enjoying wealth, possessions and satisfying our appetite with the things of this world without the due process.
The devil fights the fruit of the Holy Spirit in us.
He lures us to skip patience and endurance.
Turning Stone to bread is a short path to abundance with eternal damnation.
A failure to understand our identity would trap us in the devil’s court.
As a believer, you must understand that there’s a mark of adoption on you which is the blood of Jesus. Do not let the devil push you into sin by doubting if you’re a son of God.
Indeed if you’re a son of God, you would know that there’s no need to turn stone into bread when you’re the bread itself, in you, live the bread and life of the world.
As Jesus overcame the first temptation, the devil came again to tempt His appetite for pleasure and power.
The devil after showing the world and all the treasures of the earth to Jesus requested Him to bow down and worship him in exchange for wealth.
Many people in pursuit of the pleasures and riches of the world have sold their soul to the devil.
How can a man kill another man, in a quest for wealth?
How would a man swindle another man in the quest for wealth?
Many are into drugs, human trafficking and lots of evil, in exchange for wealth and power.
God wants us as believers to be wise and not to fall into the trap of the devil.
We must understand that the devil has no good in him and will equally offer no good to any man.
Again we must understand that the earth is of the Lord and the fullness thereof. Psalms 24:1.
Whenever we are been tempted to involve in such evil activities, Just as Jesus did, we must rebuke the tempter.
Devil can use your best friend to lure you into an illicit way of living, “Rebuke them, rebuke the thoughts, send them behind you”. James 4:7.
What you entertain and fail you dismiss would surely entertain you in the future.
Finally, the devil tempts our Faith and knowledge of God’s word.
Remember that the amount of word in You determines the amount of your impact and Faith.
Indeed it is written that God will give His Angels charge over you as the devil quoted the scripture in Psalms 91:11, as he wanted Jesus to fall off the pinnacle of the temple in Jerusalem. Luke 4:9.
When the enemy tries to trick you with the word of God, let him know that the word was made flesh and He lives in you.
In Jesus’ reply, He said, “it is also written that thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God”. Deuteronomy 6:16.
We must study and live by the standard of God’s word.
When the devil tells you to lie, that it’s not a big sin, you must understand that before God, all sin is equal and the wages of all sin is death.s
In conclusion, a prayer life and complete dependence on the Holy Spirit will help us detect the tempter and show us a way out.
Therefore we must draw night unto the Lord, have a strong relationship with the Lord.
I pray the Lord will fight for you and your family and you shall hold your peace in Jesus’ name.[responsivevoice_button]
