Our Sufficiency is Christ

DonationsOur Sufficiency is Christ

Our Sufficiency is Christ (II Corinthians 3:1-6)

Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

🛡️If we understood the way God works, it would make us relax. Have you noticed that God simply uses foolish people of the world to shame the earthly wise people? He uses those who feel inadequate, but dependent on Him to accomplish His will on earth.

🛡️We can never accomplish anything on our own. We do not have the capacity to do so. Anyone who claims to do so, is an impostor. Paul wrote against such impostors in II Cor. 3.

🛡️A Christian, called of God looks beyond his own inadequacy to the sufficiency of Christ. This is what Christianity is, that is, relying on the Sufficiency of Christ.

🛡️Such a practice makes us, discover the blessings hidden in our own experiences of inadequacy.

◼️Our insufficiency drives us to God. When we realize that a situation is bigger than we can handle, we must be quick to ask God for guidance and strength.
◾Inadequacy relieves us of the burden of self-effort and self-reliance.
◾Inability motivates reliance on divine power.

🛡️God never intends for us to do certain things by our own strength. All He needs from us is our availability, not our ability.

🛡️We will never be adequate until we draw from the Holy Spirit’s inexhaustible strength and let Him work in and through us.

🛡️By using inadequate people, God demonstrates what great things He can do through them. He actually delights in choosing unlikely individuals to carry out His plan. That is why He asks where is the wisdom of man? He really made foolish of man’s wisdom. Paul concludes that “the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of man.

🛡️There is no limit to what God can do through someone willing to give Him full control.

🛡️ Inadequacy challenges our faith. The Word of God says, ´Our adequacy is from God´ (II Corinthians 3:5).

🛡️Those who focus on the reliability of this promise and step out in obedience will grow in faith. Why then go through all the fear, pressure, and frustration that accompany feelings of inadequacy when there is an alternative?

🗝️Allow the Lord to make you adequate, that is the key to spiritual success. Depend on Him and allow Christ to live in and through you. He will replace your insufficiency with a spirit of contentment, and you will accomplish His purpose.
