II Corinthians 2:14-17
14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task? 17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.
💎There is a phenomenon that fights against our spiritual growth. That phenomenon is feeling Inadequate when God gives you an assignment.
💎Even though suck feelings militate against our spiritual growth, Christians must learn to handle it because we cannot stop them from coming. Therefore, the way we handle these feelings determines our level of growth.
💎It is sad, however, that many people live with feelings of inadequacies because, in their thinking, they do not measure up.
🛎️For some, their childhood experiences contributed to the phenomenon that negatively affected their self-image.
🛎️For others, the problem may stem from failures related to work, school, relationships, or failure related to other endeavors in life.
💎Paul asks a question that points to common insecurity: ´Who is adequate for these things?´ (v. 16).
💎Many modern Christians avoid serving the Lord in ways that challenge their comfort zone. They stick to their comfort and expect God to use them. When you do not step out of your comfort zone, you will always feel inadequate to serve the Lord. He has promised to lead us ´in triumph in Christ´ (v. 14), but unless we believe Him and step out in faith out of our comfort zone, we will never experience the fullness of life that He has planned for us.
💎 Feeling inadequate is not a sin, but using it as an excuse is. When the Lord challenges you to do something that you feel is beyond your abilities, you have two options:
👉🏽#1: You can focus on Christ and proceed in triumph, or
👉🏽#2: You can focus on yourself and withdraw in defeat.
💎 It is really a matter of faith. God would never ask you to do something without empowering you to accomplish it. This does not necessarily mean you will do it perfectly, but each step of obedience is a victory for the believer.
💎 The alternative is to play it safe, but then you will miss out on God’s best for your life.
Do not forget, that God empowers us to handle our Inadequacies, only trust in Him and obey Him.
Shalom and Maranatha!
