Do not forget your responsibility

DevotionsDo not forget your responsibility

Matthew 28:18-20

“18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

As officials have responsibility towards a nation, so also the citizens of the nation towards the officials. As a father has a responsibility towards the family so also the son towards the father. Wherever there is power, there is responsibility.

John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”

God has given his sons and daughters power in order to carry out his glorious responsibility here on earth. Daily, as we carry out our duties here on earth, we are to ask ourselves certain questions. What am I doing as a Christian? As the world is coming to an end, what role do I have to play?  Does my lifestyle exhibit the called responsibility? Most times, we forget the ultimate responsibility Jesus gave to us. Jesus is speaking to his children today, to remember their duty.

Danial 1:1-16

The assigned official was given a responsibility which is to teach Danial, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah the language and literature of the Babylonians. Additionally, the responsibility was also to nourish them with food from the kings table. But these wise men refused to defile themselves with the things that seem to be nourishing to the body but not nourishing to their soul.

As the earthly king is assigning officials, so also the KING OF KINGS has assigned you to teach the gospel to every nation, nourish them with the word, and establish it in prayers towards the nation.

The food given from the throne of grace is an everlasting food that satisfies forever. Matthew 4:4. Jesus said to the devil, Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceed out of the mouth of God. The spoken word of God brings life. If men were to live by bread alone here on earth, the result will be condemnation to eternal darkness.

Jesus was saying, though we carry the flesh that needs to be fed, but there is a greater food that gives life in abundance, which is the word that proceed out of the mouth of God. Our responsibility on earth is to carry that given word of life to every nation so as to bring life to the souls on earth.

Forgetting your great responsibility is forgetting your treasure in heaven.

Matthew 6:19 “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:”

We are to learn from the great responsibility giver, Jesus Christ. He sits on high carrying out his responsibility daily interceding on our behalf to the father.

Prayer: Lord give me the grace to carry out my daily responsibility which you have assigned to me. Amen
