27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
The fact of death is not a secret to any man; however, what happens to men after they die remains a mystery. What if someone could go before us and see what happens when someone dies, then come back and tell us about it? As Jesus tells the story of the rich man and Lazarus, he explains that even if someone comes back from the dead and shows men the way to live, they will always be skeptical, and many will stone him.
Consider this: Would you believe a man who claimed to have arisen from the dead if he told you such a story? The disciples of Jesus, on the other hand, believed it because they had seen his resurrection. What proof do I have that they believed it? Many of them went on to testify about Jesus after his resurrection, even though it meant losing their lives.
Many people believe in Jesus’ birth, life, and death (including several researchers, scientists, and atheists), but many people dispute his resurrection because it is humanly unlikely. You, too, can argue his resurrection. But consider this: will his disciples exchange everything they have to live for, including their lives, for something they had never witnessed?
Dear, friend! Jesus went ahead of you to represent you in front of the Lord. He gives you the chance to be your guide to an after-death life that will last forever. Today, Jesus is alive and seated at God’s right hand, waiting for more to join his kingdom. Would you trust in his resurrection and allow him to lead you or would you keep on doubting his resurrection?
Jesus says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20
Say this prayer to Jesus today to embrace his redemption (He is risen, and he hears whoever calls on him, no matter how bad they are): Thank you, Lord Jesus, for entering the realms of death for me, and thank you for the salvation you provide to everyone who believes in you. I believe in you, Lord, and I believe that you rose from the dead and are now seated at the right hand of God. Accept me as yours and lead me to your bosom when I die.
