18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
Accepting to follow Jesus is agreeing to sell your life to Him. You are no longer the owner of your life, you have been bought by the precious blood of Jesus. If you indeed accepted this transaction, then you must be willing to follow Jesus wherever His Spirit may lead.
Your cost might be great but his blood is greater. What desires can we ever have that supersedes the blood of God that was shed on the cross? No pleasure on earth can even be compared to the eternal benefits awaiting us. Even Jesus, because of the glory set before Him endured the cross, so also let us endure the shame of carrying the cross of Jesus as we await glory.
“Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” Is your salvation genuine? then you must be willing to follow Jesus wherever even as the Apostle did to the extent of rejoicing for being flogged for Christ sake.
Then Jesus declared, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and then looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)
Have you looked back? do like Paul today, forget what lies behind, stand up, get determined and keep pressing on. (Philippians 3:13-14)
Prayer: Help me not to disappoint you oh Lord. The price you paid for me is greater than any sacrifice I can offer. Strengthen me to follow wherever your Spirit leads. Amen.
