Godliness and contentment

DevotionsGodliness and contentment

Text: 1 Timothy 6: 6. But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Godliness is a God-centered life. It grows, not through the pursuit of a process, but through the presence of a person. Jesus Christ is the mystery of godliness.
Contentment is finding joy in what God has given to you. The opposite of contentment is greed which destroys your capacity to enjoy what God has given.
The quest for more and insatiable desire for wealth has destroyed many in our society today.
It is God’s will that we prosper, but moving out of God’s will in pursuit of wealth, is an act of greed.

A man who fears God must live in contentment.
In pursuit of wealth, many have sold their souls to the devil.
Many are into all sorts of demonic activities just to gain wealth.
We’re in a generation where men are gaining the whole world at the peril of their soul.
Hardly are men forgetting all to win Christ. Philippians 3:13, 1:21.
Godliness and Contentment is life, it is a great gain.
Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked the Bible says. Psalm 37:16.

God instructs us to walk uprightly before Him.
Be content with the little the Lord has blessed you with.
For it is His will for you at the moment.
Do not strife to make wealth.
Patiently wait for the Lord and in His time, He’ll uplift you again.

My prayer today is that God will help us develop a contented and Godly attitude in Jesus’ name.

Bible reading.
1 Timothy 6: 6. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
