11And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.…
About 24 years ago before i met the Lord, whenever i listened to a salvation message and hear these lines “Jesus is coming soon, for you to make it into heaven you must believe in Jesus otherwise you will perish in Hell”, i wonder how a God who made the universe and all in it will be so wicked to cast people into hell. As the Holy spirit began his work in my life, his truth was made known to me.
Romans 6:23 says, the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life. This free gift of God is his son Jesus; Jesus who began flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). We all were born into the sinful nature of Adam (Romans 5:12) deserving death (Please note that death here refers to an everlasting separation from God), but because of God’s love for us (John 3:16), he sent Jesus to die as an exchange for our death.
The death of Jesus restored hope to humanity, man can now choose to be reconciled back to God by believing in Jesus. Our text in John 5:11-12 makes it explicitly clear that whoever has the Son (Jesus) has life; whoever does not have the son, does not have life. It is either you have the son or you don’t have the son. The side to be is totally your choice. Those who have chosen Jesus are those who heard about him and believed in him, they have made him the Lord of their lives. For such people, eternal life with Jesus is assured. Those who do not have the son, are does who reject him. They reject him as the only one who can reconcile them back to God. They do not believe in the son of God (Jesus).
Whoever dies without believing in the son of God will forever be separated from God. To be separated from God implies being punished forever with the devil in Hell. Punished for their sins, sins they never allowed Jesus bear on the cross for them because the failed to believe in him. Believing in Jesus is the only way out. I encourage you to learn more about Jesus, as knowing more about Jesus will give you a reason to believe.
Lord help me! set my heart to wisdom, let your light cast out all darkness in me depriving me from knowing more about you.
