Eschatology: Things to come (part 11, section 1: The Signs of Israel)

-

I believe the sixth and final category of signs (The Sign of Israel) is the most important one – all, more important than all the rest put together. It is so because Israel is God’s prophetic time clock.

What are the signs of Israel?

There are seven of them. These Seven Signs of Israel are being fulfilled before our very eyes today. This certifies that we are living in the most exciting time in the history of mankind since the First Coming of Jesus.

The first of these signs is the regathering of the Jewish people from the four corners of the earth.

This process began in 1900 and has continued to this day. Statistics shows that here were only 40,000 Jews in Israel in 1900; there were 500,000 at the end of World War II; today there are over 5 million, and they are continuing to come in unprecedented numbers from all over the world, particularly Russia and Ethiopia. The Igbo people of Nigeria also trace their ancestry to Israel. No doubt, if this is adjudged to be true, they too would migrate to Israel in their numbers.

Do not forget that Israel stopped existing as a nation in 70 AD, when Titus, a Roman General destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple according to Christ’s prediction.

In Jeremiah 16 it says that when history is finished, the Jews will look back upon their history and they will consider what is going on right now — the regathering of the Jews from the four corners of the earth — to be a greater miracle than their deliverance from Egyptian captivity. That is an amazing statement.

As a result of this regathering, the state of Israel was reestablished on May 14, 1948, clearly fulfilling the prophesies in Isaiah 66, Ezekiel 37, and Zechariah 12 that the nation of Israel will be existing in the end times.

Jesus emphasized this point in his teachings about the end times. In Matthew 24 He said for us to “watch the fig tree.” The fig tree is a common biblical symbol of Israel. Jesus said “when the fig tree re-blossoms,” the generation that sees that happen will be the generation that will see all the end time events come to pass.

The state of Israel came back into existence — it “re-blossomed” — on May 14, 1948,

The first sign of Israel is the regathering of the Jewish people. This is fulfilling in our time.

What does this tell you as a person? It is clear that the Second Coming of Christ is not supposed to take Christians unawares. We are children of the light, we are not in darkness. This means that every Christian must be ready because He is almost here.

Watch out for the second sign of Israel in part 11, section 2.

Shalom and Maranatha!
