Easily destroyed

Easily destroyed

Text John 2:18-22

The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”

19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”

20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

Imaging how easy it is to destroy than to build. The Jews on hearing Jesus thought he was referring to destroying the temple that took forty-six years to build in 3 days. It takes many years for a man to grow from infancy into adulthood, but it can take less than a second to destroy the man. David referred to the life of a man as a grass in the field, when the wind has passed over, it is no more (Psalm 103:15-16). For this reason, men ought to number their days, we need to live each day as if it was our last on earth. We make serious mistakes when we think we are too young or too strong to die. This mistake many times take us away from worshiping God into satisfying ourselves. Understanding that you are not immune to death will help you work before the Lord in trembling

A wise man must think of his life as fading away and trust Jesus to give him eternal life when he dies. For only Jesus can pull down and rebuild.
