Text; 1 Corinthians 9:24-27. Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
We must understand that as God’s children, we have been called unto righteousness.
God wants us to keep the faith of our salvation alive and maintain the hope of our glory in Christ Jesus. (Colossians 1:27).
Many times, we get distracted by the activities of the world.
We want to be Christians and also be conformed to the world and it’s pattern. (Romans 12:2).
We want to sing ‘Holy! Holy! Holy! to the Lord and also sing the worldly songs.
We want to worship God in words alone and our hearts fixed to the pleasures of the world. (Matthew 15:8).
Remember Jesus said; ‘No man put his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62).
Again remember Lots wife, how she turned into a pillar of salt when she looked back (Luke 17:32-33).
The Bible says, as dogs return to their vomit so a fool returns to his folly. (Proverbs 26:11).
The future is ahead!
The race is ahead!
Therefore we must keep focus to win the eternal price.
We must give to the Lord, the worship due to Him. We must worship in Spirit and in Truth. (John 4:24).
We must fight the good fight of our faith.
Nothing should separate us from the love of Christ. (Romans 8:38-39).
We must keep looking unto Jesus the Author and finisher of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2).
What are the things that lure you back to sin and the world?
Now, write them down on a plain sheet of paper and present them daily to the Lord.
Pray daily for strength to overcome all.
I pray Grace and divine strength to live above all the weaknesses you have written down, in Jesus name Amen.
