Don’t extend the Journey part 2

Psalm 139: 23.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Having an extension means to have an additional time or work load or activity, against the original plan for the task at hand.
We must understand that it is possible to encounter a positive extension in life (speaking about God’s own way of extending an issue or project for your own favor and good).
Again we can also have a negative extension (that speaks about the devil and forces of darkness fighting and delaying God’s plan in our lives and the self afflicted extension as we discussed in yesterday’s devotion).

As God’s children, we must understand the place of God’s Authority in our lives, that tells us of the upper hand we have over the devil and his agents on negative satanic extensions.
In discerning a satanic extension that has tarried for long, we need a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
And by consistent and fervent prayers, we break demonic extensions over our life.

From our yesterday’s devotional on the first part of this same topic “Don’t extend the Journey”, we were able to point out and discuss (2) out of the (4) negative self afflicted points and acts God has revealed to us on how believers delay their blessings and the answer to the manifestations of their prayers.
Today we’ll look at the other 2.

1. Unbelief. When we doubt the word and promises of God, it’s an act of sin and disobedience and the Lord hates it.
The sign of unbelief in the life of a believer shows the absence of faith and the bankruptcy of the word of God.
A believer that is malnourished from the word of God, will suffer the disease of faithlessness which is unbelief.
There are many dangers of unbelief, the sin of unbelief causes a great separation between God and man.
The Bible says when we come to the Lord with a request, we must first believe that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6.

Some dangers of unbelief,
* It denies us of God’s rest. There is a Glorious rest for God’s children on earth and in eternity.
One of the rest God has assured us on earth, speaks about the promise that we shall eat the fruits of our labor on earth and again the promise of abundant blessing after we have suffered a little while from an affliction or after we give all for the sake of the Gospel. 1 Peter 5:10, Mark 10:29-30.
Now we understand that unbelief can deny us of God’s physical blessing that gives rest.
So we must labor to enter into God’s rest, lest any man fall due to unbelief. Hebrews 4:11.

* unbelief brings about affliction.
We see a clear example in Luke 1:20, when Zechariah was afflicted with dumbness by an Angel of the Lord because of unbelief. And until John was given birth to, He never spoke.
Sometimes we receive words from the Lord that are beyond our capacity and ability as human, instead of to doubt God’s word, let’s learn from Mary that cried; “Be it unto me according to your word Lord”. Luke 1:38.

* Unbelief can lead to death and also lead to spiritual demotion.
The Bible tells us on the unbelief of John the Baptist, when he sent his disciples to ask the Lord if He was the Christ or not. (Matthew 11).
Jesus was disappointed how a man who had preached about Him would ask such a question.
And the Lord declared a violence that would further begin in advancing God’s kingdom, and made access only for the violent”.
The Lord also went further to explain that the greatness of John the Baptist on earth would no more be counted as even spiritually, the least in God’s kingdom would be greater than him. Matthew 11:11-12.

2. A persistent sin.  When a believer has persistently continued in a particular sin, it causes extension to his or her life journey.
When we are delivered from a sin, we must develop the habit of testifying of our freedom from that particular sin, so we can gain permanent victory over that sin.

Many believers continue on a particular sin even after confessing Christ as their Lord, they fall back to the same old sin.

A persistent sin extends life journey.
So let’s evaluate ourself if we are upright.

My prayer for you reader, is that the Lord will give you power to walk and live above every works of flesh and sin in Jesus name.
