‘God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth is removed…’
Have you ever pondered deeply on these verses? Have you felt afraid while considering the prospect of the world ending? The verse above is a reminder that as Christians, our refuge is not our homes, our mansions, our spouses, our educational backgrounds, our high-level connections, or income. Rather, our refuge is actually God himself. It is on God we stand. Thus, even if the very ground we stand on gives way, nothing will happen to us, we will not be harmed.
Remember that as Paul confidently stated in 2nd Corinthians4:8-9, ‘We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.’
Go about your week and life with this confidence that absolutely nothing can bring you down because your physical, spiritual, emotional, mental, and psychological refuge is God Himself. It is divine in nature.
