Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
The death and resurrection of Jesus gave us power over sin. Paul refers to believers as being dead to sin, no longer slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness. Because of the resurrection of Jesus, we have been set free from the grip of sins, we can now choose to live a life free of sin. Once we were enslaved by sin to do its will, but now we can choose to say no to sin.
Some weeks ago, i got a deeper understanding of temptations we face. The devil comes around checking our progress in Christ. His main aim is to ensure we are pulled down by sin whenever we show any sign of spiritual growth. The devil knows that once we fall into that temptation, there will be a delay in our spiritual growth. He is not only interested in you falling, he is also interested in stealing, killing and destroying you (John 10:10).
It is therefore very important to see temptation as a war against your spiritual man, as such you need to fight vehemently with all spiritual weapons. The difference between unbelievers and we believers is that we are dead to sin (We have been given power to choose to say no to sin). 1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. As a soldier of the Lord, we must choose to stand firm and not to give in to temptations.
The devil will always craftily come telling you, you do not have the power to resist that sin. Always remind the devil you are no longer a slave to sin. You are dead to sin.
