Genesis 22:16 KJVA
“and said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son,”
The story of Abraham obeying God by trying to offer Isaac as a burnt offering is one great example of complete obedience. In the previous chapters, Abraham showed his closeness to God by negotiating with God about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Abraham could have also negotiated the deal of using Isaac as a burnt offering. He could have asked if He can offer Ishmael instead of Isaac but the Bible recorded that He took immediate action. This shows His loyalty and trust in God.
God gives every believer instructions daily but our attitude to such is very important. Delayed obedience can be a form of disobedience. It is important to obey and trust God even when the instructions He is giving to you doesn’t make sense to humans. The good news is complete obedience always comes with a great reward. Make it a priority today and beyond to obey God completely. God bless you.
