Being In The Presence of God Brings Peace

DevotionsBeing In The Presence of God Brings Peace

John 16:33; Psalm 27; 31:19-20

♦️ The world is full of troubles because Satan and his agents (demons and some human beings) rule. Jesus made it clear before Pilate that His Kingdom is not of this earth.

✝️ But, in Christ, in the presence of God, there is inner peace all the time and in all circumstances.

♦️The Psalmist talks about hiding in the presence of the Most High even as we carry out our duties in the world. Our duties here comprise of:
✒️Accepting His guidance as Christians,
✒️Obeying His instructions.
✒️Being highly sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and
✒️ Doing our legitimate work on earth diligently and according to His will.

♦️When we do these things we have peace of mind because Christ is both with us and within us. What He does is to go before us, open up the way and go alongside us. Note, it takes the diligence of listening to the Holy Spirit to notice such a phenomenon in one’s life. There could be no better companion than the Lord Himself.

♦️Forget those who preach messages to make you feel good, the only way to follow God is to obey Him diligently and meticulously. Many of such messages have no substance in them. They are entertainments that lure people to eternal damnation. Be extremely careful.

♦️Now, because Jesus is your dependable companion, there must be an observable lightness in your life that showcases the peace of God. You will not be weighed down with problems and unresolved issues because God is a better burden-bearer than your thoughts.

♦️No doubts, in the world we have trials and distress, but do not let them get you down, because Jesus has conquered the world and deprived it of power to harm you. Have confidence in God.

♦️In Psalm 27, David wrote of his waiting on God during a time of great trouble when there was no solution in sight.

♦️Instead of giving in to despair, he maintained his confidence that he would ‘see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living’ (v.13).

♦️ It is sad we live in a world that worships the immediate. When it seems there is no sign of our deepest longings being fulfilled, instead of waiting to see what the Lord would do, we devise our satan-prompted solution. This is worshipping the immediate.

♦️But, the psalmist urges us to cling to the eternal God. He says: ‘Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!'(v.14).

✝️ When we do this, the peace of God that passes all comprehension will overshadow us.
