Be strong and Courageous

Text: Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

I remember sleeping in a room alone when i was younger. I would imagine all kinds of scary things around me and would finally wake up the next morning in my sisters room. Fear of the unknown was in charge of me. Whenever the night drew near, i would automatically start to imagine scary things. As i grew up, i discovered how fear had made me weak. Getting to identify with the promises of Jesus made me realize i am never alone even in my darkest period. This knowledge gave me victory needed to defeat fear and build strength.

The Lord God knew for Israel to walk in his plan of success, Joshua (the leader) must be strong and courageous. Thus he said to Joshua “Be strong and Courageous”.

For you to have that victory over the devil, you must be strong and courageous.

God gave Joshua reason why he should be strong and courageous, the reason being; for the lord God will be with him forever. Has Jesus promised to be with us forever? In Matthew 28:20 Jesus promises to be with us forever. The reason why we fear is because we feel we are alone. You are never alone child of God. In that situation, Jesus is with you. in Deuteronomy 31:6, God clearly says he will never leave nor forsake us.

Do not let that situation tie you down. Get up, confront it with strength and courageous relying on the victory of Jesus who is always with you.

Prayer: Lord strength and courage come from understanding what your presence carry. Help me to always know you are with me and to rely on your power over every situation. Amen.
