Text: Acts 1: 8. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
A true witness is someone who testifies, with all prove and undeniable evidence about a person or a group of people.
As believers, the death and resurrection of Christ would have just been like a fairy tale if it wasn’t for the Holy Spirit who was sent by God to bring about the good tidings and messages of Jesus Christ to the world.
One of the main purposes of the invasion of the Holy Spirit into the world, has always been to raise men and women that would stand as witnesses and testify in power, in all truth, in revelation, in word, to the death, resurrection and Salvation that is now available unto men after the resurrection of Christ.
It pleases God that all would be saved when His witnesses stand and speak of His goodness. 1 Timothy 2:4.
As we speak to the world, the Holy Spirit moves and convicts men of their sin and mistakes, He reveals to the heart of men, the importance of Salvation. John 16:7-8.
A true witness of Christ makes use of every opportunity or circumstance to testify about Christ.
The Bible tells us in Acts 3, after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, how Peter after seeing the crowd that came to see what was going on, took up the opportunity and witnessed Christ, winning three thousand souls to the Lord. And many other accounts in the book of Acts, of the Apostles making use of every opportunity to witness Christ.
A true witness of Christ testifies only about Christ and not himself.
Many preachers would talk more on their self and life history and talk less of the one who has sent them. This is not a true act of witnessing.
As a witness, self must give way for the world to hear your testimony and experience the power behind the words in your mouth.
A true witness of Christ bears the mark and personality of Christ in his life and attitude.
On a self-examination, have you witnessed to anyone on the saving Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ right from the beginning of the year until now?
How many souls have you won for Christ this year?
Today God only wants us to know that as believers, our major assignment is to
Witness Christ to the world and make disciples of all nations.
Take out a little of your weekly or daily time, in the school, at work, in your locality and share to people about the love and saving Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For he that wins a soul is wise. Proverbs 11:30.
