Text: 1 Corinthians 15:55-57
O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
We all believe the end of every man is death. Despite this belief, man has not overcome the fear of death. Over the years we have heard or experienced not only the death of old people but also the death of agile young men. Rich men, poor men, the high class, the low class all experience death the same way. This tells us death is not a respecter of age, gender or social status. Its sting is still as painful as it was 2000 years ago.
What happens after death? Really this is a serious question any serious minded person should ask. However, many fail to ponder deeply about this question because they get carried away by their present strength and pleasures of this world.
Our text (1 Corinthians 15:55-57) tells us of a man who gives victory over death. Because of the sin of man, death came to stay. But Jesus being God manifested in flesh came to deliver us from sin thereby giving us victory over death. Jesus made it possible that when we close our eyes in death here on earth, we awake into an everlasting life with him (Jesus). This is victory over death: getting to know that the end of your journey here on earth does not mark the end of your existence is victory over death. Jesus confirmed his victory over death by is death and resurrection.
To enjoy this victory, all we need to do is to accept Jesus as the sacrifice for our sin. Whoever believes in Jesus shall not perish but have everlasting life.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, i believe you are the sacrifice for my sin. I accept you as my Lord and savior. Help me to know you more. Amen
Live your life in such a way that immediately you close your eyes in death, Jesus will hold you by the hand and lead you into eternity
