Text: James 5: 16. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Prayer is not just an activity but one of the most sensitive way we communicate with God.
Prayer is one of our spiritual armor as believers. Ephesians 6:18.
Many believers suffer unnecessary afflictions and satanic oppression as a result of prayerlessness.
A believer is sharpened spiritually as he develops a prayer lifestyle and a desire to study and meditate on God’s word.
Sometimes we allow situations grow and develop wings as we fail to settle them at the first stage in the realm of prayer.
The Bible tells us to “resist the devil and he will flee from us”, such a wonderful promise attached to a fervent prayer.
A believer must develop a prayer lifestyle because prayer is not an emergency rescue system.
Most believers remember to pray only when they face a challenge but when things get better, they do away with prayer.
Only a friend of God can enjoy emergency response in prayers.
Some years back I was afflicted by the devil, as I kept blind eyes to it, it grew worse, the pain became unbearable and one night, I woke up, prayed fervently in capital letters and resisted the devil, the next morning as I woke up, the devil was gone, no more pain, completely healed. immediately I realized that what I thought was a lion roaring, was only a goat bleating. Glory to God!
So many uncountable experiences on this subject.
The Bible tells us this way;
Is anyone afflicted, let him pray.
Is anyone merry, let him sing psalms.
Is anyone sick, let him call on the church elders to pray over him and anoint him. (James 5:13-14).
We were never told to run to any hospital or grow fear, rather we are told to pray!
Not all prayer produces great results.
How can my prayers produce a great result?
1. Keep a clean heart, never hold grudge against another. The Bible says to confess your faults to one another, forgive one another before you pray. James 5:16a.
2. Effectual and Fervent. Only an effectual and fervent prayer can produce a great result. Effectiveness, in this case, talks about a prayer that draws fire from the word of God. the word of God gives us an effective prayer lifestyle. To be fervent means to be on fire, very hot, zealous in the spirit.
A prayer made out of a highly concentrated heart and spirit with consistency.
Elijah was a perfect example, the Bible says he was a man like me and you but he prayed there would be no rain on the earth for 3 years and 6 months. James 5:17-18.
Now the big question is, how fervent are you in your prayer?
God wants us to grow a new prayer lifestyle.
3. The Bible makes it clear that it’s not just the fervent prayer of any kind of man but a RIGHTEOUS man produces a great result.
A righteous man is that man who is upright with a sincere relationship with God.
A man that hates what the Lord hates and live only by the standard of God’s word.
These 3 principal keys will help your prayer life.
Draw nigh to the Lord today with all humility of heart and genuine repentance and He will draw nigh to you.
Give God reasons to advocate for you by living a holy and sincere life.
Let he that sin, sin no more.
