10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Paul talking about the fruit of the Holy Spirit made mention of Joy (Galatians 5:22-23). The Holy Spirit is in us to bring to fulfillment the will of the father, one of such will is for us be filled with Joy. We do not have Joy because all around us is perfect, we do not have Joy because we do not have loved once passing through challenges or financial issues we need to settle. We have Joy because of the presence of the Holy Spirit in us, he reminds us of our home above, he reminds us of the love of the father. When the oceans rise and thunders roar, when mountains fall all around you, when darkness tries to take away your heart, the Holy Spirit is still there reminding you of your home above.
The reason why we worry and deprive ourselves of the rivers of joy flowing in us is that we have so much lost track of our spiritual nature. We have rather embraced the flesh and all its lies. Focusing more on our divine spiritual nature will make us see the world and all its challenges differently. Jesus came for us to have freedom, he came to make us understand our spiritual nature.
I remember a challenge that led me to cry, as I cried I said to myself, if only Jesus was still on earth, I would run to him and cry on his shoulder because I know the joy he gives would comfort me. I did not realize he had made a provision for me, his word (the bible). The bible is Jesus’s heart to us. It transforms us, making us understand and come to terms with our spiritual nature. As Christians, for us to have joy in this world today, we must understand we are spirits and come to terms with it (learn how to walk in the spirit). The Bible reveals the transformative power we need to walk in the spirit.
You have Joy flowing like a river in you. Experience that joy in abundance by walking in the spirit.
