Text: Mathew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest
We often worry about many physical things and fail to pay attention to the spiritual. We unknowingly chose to give more attention to the physical, we desire to live in big houses, drive luxury vehicles, eat the best meals, have the best relationships and experience the best out of life. Giving attention to the physical is good, but you should not forget the physical is temporal (Psalm 103:15) but the spirit is forever. Jesus speaking about eternal life advice we build our house upon the rock. This means it is better to build on the eternal (Spiritual) than on the physical.
When people fail to build the spirit, the spirit becomes homeless (Having no rest). In our text today, Jesus speaks about the rest he gives when we come to him. The most profound sign to know a man whose spirit is homeless is his attitude towards the things of God. Whenever you find yourself hating time of fellowship with the Lord your spirit might be strolling away from the rest Jesus gives, when you lead people astray through your dressing, lifestyle, teachings, etc. your spirit might be homeless.
A homeless spirit is a bait for the devil, he uses them to get others into his camp and eventually destroys them all
Jesus came to give rest to our spirits, He says “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit [a]of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.” John 15:4. So, whenever you observe your spirit wondering away from Gods refuge, run back to Jesus.
Prayer: Help me not to lose hold of you, may I always dwell in your house. Amen!
