Isaiah 49:15 – 16
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
Many times we compare God to our earthly fathers. This is good as it helps us picture his love and the responsibility he has over us. However, the truth is, the love of God is deeper than the love of our fathers. As deep as his love is for us, so also is his heart totally sold out to us.
God goes to the extreme in keeping his own. It was because of God’s love the children of Israel traveled for 40 years in the wilderness instead of 11 days. Exodus 13:17 speaks about how God led them through a longer way so they wouldn’t change their minds. God recognized he had stubborn children to take to the promised land. His love for them could not afford to loose them so he decided to lead them through the long root just to secure them to himself. So many times we are also led along this long path to keep us focused on God. The earlier we learn his ways, the more we will understand his love for us, the faster we will fulfil his will.
God’s love for you makes him have compassion for you, his love sounds a reminder that you are engraved on the palms of his hands. This should give you boldness and a reason to always move on.
