Romans 6:13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
One of the most challenging temptation young people face daily is lust. This has led many Christians into seeking possible solutions out. Paul in his writing presented us with two possible way out. First do not present your members to sin as instrument of unrighteousness. How do we present our members as instrument of sin? The human body is very adaptive in nature, the bible tells us in Romans 6:16 that when we offer ourselves as slaves to someone, that person rules over us. In the same vain, when we make our members available for lust, lust rules over us. So, we are advised not to avail ourselves for sin by fleeing from all appearance of sin.
Secondly, present yourselves to God. Presenting ourselves to God has to do with turning to God in prayer and worship. Fighting temptations will never be easy especially at the early stage. This is because it is an important battle, it is a battle for your soul and fulfillment of purpose here on earth. We must be determined in winning the battle. The bible tells us in Matthew 5:30 to cut off the part that leads us to sin. This tells us that the battle of overcoming sin must be painful… It is a serious battle. If you have chosen to serve Jesus, then we must drink the cup of his suffering.
In overcoming lust, we must understand that it is a painful battle, we must choose to win by giving up our sinful desires.
Lord open my eyes to understand what i loose each day i fall into sin, and give me the ability to stand strong defending my believe in you, rejecting the pleasures of sin and clinging to your promises.
