Luke 22: 31

31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

There is always a battle to pull us down. The devil is constantly planning on how to distract children of God from obeying the will of God. Jesus speaking to his disciples cried out “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat!”. Imagine Satan asking to sift the apostles as wheat! This should tell us how intense the battle for our souls and service to the Lord is. No wonder the devil presents us with many distractions. No wonder people can spend lots of time satisfying their flesh but would hardly spend a minute in the presence of the Lord.

Dear friend, you need to be conscious of who you are and your assignment here on earth, You must understand the devil goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour. For this reason, we must walk carefully. Knowing that we are in a fierce battle, we must be mindful of what we let into our hearts, where we go and how we spend our time.

Jesus in verse 32 of our text told Peter “But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers” Because of Simons heart towards Jesus, Jesus opposed the devil in prayers for the soul of Simon and encouraged him to help his brothers after he had overcome. Remember it was this same Simon who told Jesus, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” (Matthew 19:27). Everyone who seeks Jesus sincerely will be defended by him.

In these last days, as the pleasures of the world increase, as the persecution of the saint become more pronounced, be rest assured the devil will keep trying to sift children of God as wheat. It is only a personal relationship with Jesus that can save you. Be encouraged today, go deeper into an intimate relationship with Jesus.

Prayer: Help me Lord to know more about you so I will be able to withstand all the evil darts of the devil. Amen
