1 Corinthians 13:13;

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Taking a critical study on the life of Christ, who is the perfect example of Love, we would see clearly that indeed love is selfless.

The Bible explains it this way,  in John 15: 13. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

God commands us to love.
During Jesus’ earthly ministry, He demonstrated love and compassion, He was more at other people’s service than His own needs.

We live in a generation where love is only said in words but not in actions.
People are loved because they have something to offer and when they become a non entity, everyone forgets them.

When you love your brother, you will not kill him, you will not gossip about him, you will trust him, you will not slander him and many more.
Many smile at people like they love them but behind those smiles are bitterness and hatred.

Beloved! Jesus Christ is the only perfect example of love that ever walked and still walking among human.
There was nothing like a busy schedule for the Lord in responding to distress calls.
We must emulate Christ.

From our main text, the Bible tells us that every other gift will perish except from Faith, Hope and Love but love is the greatest.
To understand on how to build a perfect relationship of love with people, you must grow to love God and His word with all your heart.

When a certain lawyer in Luke 10:25-27, enquired on the keys to eternal life, Jesus said to him, “You must love God with all your heart, your soul and strength, and with your mind and your neighbour as you love thyself.
This is the interpretation, when you love God in such manner as stated, the love of God in you will flow like a gentle river to your neighbour because you have been transformed by the love of God.

In conclusion, examine your self today from the scripture in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 on the qualities of true love;
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!

Having examined yourself, have you truly practiced Love?

Prayer:
Lord help me to love, teach me to love even those that hate me and persecute me for righteous sake.
