Text: Philippians 2: 5. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
The mind is a set of cognitive faculties including consciousness, imagination, perception, thinking, judgment, language and memory.
Every action of man comes from the abundance of what has been stored or processed in the mind.
Today, God is telling us that we must have the same mind as Christ Jesus.
Having the mind of Christ is a call unto perfection and uprightness.
It pleases God that we keep a clean mind and consciousness.
How can we have the sound mind of Christ?
We must understand that the mind is a receptive organ, it absorbs information.
Whatever character we portray comes out of the abundance of information received by the mind.
When we turn our heart away from negativity, when we close our heart to negative information such as gossip, evil reports, our mind will maintain her nature of love.
The mind has the capacity of retaining information for a very long period of time.
Instead of feeding yourself with negative information such as lies, slander, gossips, why not feed your mind with the word of God, the beautiful things of life, the success of men and not mistakes, feed your mind constantly with all the tools necessary for achieving your God-given vision and dreams.
Again, when we fail to discard dirty images or views immediately, it can also corrupt the mind.
Our eyes and sight take us a long way in maintaining a clean mindset.
Beloved, “The eyes are the light of the body, and if your eyes are being tamed, your whole body will be full of light.
But when the eyes are evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. Now if the light in thee is now darkness, how great will that darkness be! (Matthew 6:22-23).
When the eyes capture, the mind processes.
The Bible tells us again in 2 Samuel 11, how David sinned against the Lord when his eyes saw naked Bathsheba taking her bath at the rooftop of her house.
Encountering am evil sight is normal and easy in our world today, but the abundance of God’s word in you will rebuke that sight, it’ll open your mouth and rebuke the sight.
Keep your mind busy with good thoughts, with love, hold nothing against no man.
Keep the mind of humility as Christ thought it no robbery despite being equal with God, He humbled himself even till death.
How can a young man stay pure?
Psalm 119: 9. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
The word of God is the only tested and trusted purifying agent that has the power and ability to guard our mind.
Again, another passage tells us;
Philippians 4: 8. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
This scripture reveals a practical step that helps us overcome the battles of the mind.
As you adhere to the lessons in today’s study, I pray God will cleanse you and bring out His best from you in Jesus Christ name.
