Text: Hebrews 12:2
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Do you have a hero in your life? And not just a figure of a person you like but someone who you actively admire and look up to? I admit it can be hard to “fix our eyes on Jesus” and see him as our hero because he is not here on earth with us and we cannot see him like other earthly hero’s. But Jesus is indeed the ultimate hero and trailblazer. Look at how he faced the shame and crucification on the cross as a sacrifice to take away our sins! He gave himself up for us so that we can have a hero that nor sin or death can taint or destroy. Jesus did this so that we could trust and have confidence in following him, believing that the trail he blazed wasn’t only for himself but also for us to follow his footsteps.
Holy God, forgive me when I chase what is false and let my focus shift from Jesus as my ultimate hero. I want to honor and serve him, having his life come alive in me, so that others may know the confidence that comes in having Jesus as their Lord.
