1 Peter 2: 11- 12

Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings; 11 yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings when bringing judgment on them from[d] the Lord. 12 But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals, they too will perish.

From time past the devil never introduced himself as an angel of darkness, he always crept into the life of men subtly. Peter writing to believers urged them to be careful with false prophets. How do we identify them when they all see visions, preach eloquently and prophecy? Brethren, one major sign of a false prophet is pride. Boldness is never to be mistaken for pride or arrogance.

From our text of focus, we see the false prophets are not careful to dive into matters they do not understand, they speak of spiritual beings as though they have fully understood their ways, they heap curses on people bought with the blood of Jesus Christ with an aim to subject them. When a man tells you “you are cursed by the angels of God!” or terrifies you with prophecies, judge the spirit working in that man for no man working with the Spirit of God has the right or ability to curse you (a prince in the kingdom of God), for even David said  “The LORD forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the LORD’s anointed, or lay my hand on him; for he is the anointed of the LORD.” 1 Samuel 24:6

Have you been anointed by God? But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)  NO MAN CAN CURSE WHOM GOD HAS ANOINTED!.

Pastor, does it mean God cannot rebuke a man through His prophets? As long as the blood of Jesus has washed you, Jesus’s rod and His staff can be used on you anytime, but as a good shepherd, His rebukes and corrections are aimed at saving you and not placing you in bondage.

A lady told me a story of how prophecies she received from a church took her away from God until she got to discover the Truth from the bible. What “Prophecies” are you receiving today from your church leaders? do they lead you closer to God in repentance, not fear? For Gods word/corrections lead people to Him in true repentance and not fear.

False prophets will only keep you bound either by telling you what your flesh longs to hear or by instilling fears in you but the true word of God sets you free.

Knowledge of whom Jesus is and what He has done for you will set you free from the damages false prophets have done in your life. Jesus says “You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you Free”

You can stay safe from false doctrines by having a personal relationship with Jesus.
