1 Timothy 6:12
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
There is a fight greater than the two world wars put together, a weapon stronger than any nuclear weapon ever developed by man. This fight is the fight for your faith and the weapon is your greatest assert “Faith”. All you see happen on earth today is as a result of a spiritual fight. The tragedy in Syria, the killings in Northern Nigeria, the peace and success in Canada, etc, all these are a result of either a failed or successful spiritual battle. In the same vein, there is a fierce battle for your faith, a battle that will determine your true success on earth and a where you will spend eternity. Jesus has equipped us through His blood for victory in this battle, all we need to do is to ensure we are not easily entangled by sin, for sin is a snare that makes us vulnerable and susceptible to defeat.
Therefore “Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow springs of life”(Proverbs 4:23). We must keep a renewed mind always to ensure our weapon of warfare is sharp. A true fight of faith entails fleeing from all appearance of evil. You must teach your eye, mouth, tongue, ear, nose and every other part of your body how to say NO! and flee from sin. This is the battle we are in, and we must fight!
But pastor, I have tried so hard to say no to sin. 1 Samuel 2:9 says “He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness; for by his own strength shall no man prevail”. As long as you desire righteousness by leaning on the shoulders of Jesus (“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6)) your steps will be protected by God.
The word of God is life, the word of God transforms. I pray in the name of Jesus that you receive strength and courage to study the word of God daily. Jesus answered, “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God”. Gods word is the strength you need to overcome sin.
