Text: Luke 9: 62. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
The Christian faith is not a religious practice, it is not a hypocritical practice and though we are saved by Grace through faith, we daily work out our salvation with fear and trembling, to fit into God’s plan. Philippians 2:12.
Our Faith and walk with Jesus Christ is built on the foundation of a total dependence on God (trust) and a complete surrender to His word and will (obedience).
The essence of our salvation is to have a perfect relationship with God, that will spring up unto everlasting life in Heaven.
To look back means going back to the darkness where you have been called out from.
To look back means to return to your vomit, returning to your past.
The Bible says whosoever that is in Christ is a new creation, behold old things are passed away and all things are made new. 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Many believers are running the race of their faith with their eyes back to where they were called out from.
The body of Christ is now filled with hypocritical believers.
We see believers who were saved from drunkenness, still turning back to alcohol, still visiting alcoholic stores with the same old friends and lots more.
Today God wants us to keep our focus on the author and finisher of our Faith alone. Hebrews 12:2.
Our Bible text tells us that no man puts his hand to the plow and turns back is fit for the kingdom.
The Christian faith is a progressive journey, it is a journey of either I live or die with Christ. Philippians 1:21.
Turning back to where God saved you from, can destroy your soul.
A good biblical example in Genesis 19:26, tells us how Lot’s wife turned back and turned into a pillar of salt after God had separated them from the evil city Sodom and Gomorrah.
Daily take up your cross and follow Jesus.
Backslide from the devil, not from your faith in Christ Jesus.
It was not a joke when Jesus Christ took those Insults for your sake, He took those beating, those mocking, faced those rejections and the nail. (Matthew 26:67-68, 27:27-31). He went through all this, to save us from sin and give us a right standing with God. 2 Corinthians 5:21.
So why then do you keep turning back after all Jesus did for you on the cross?
Now examine yourself and prayerfully present those weak areas to God.
God loves sincerity, brokenness and spiritual honesty.
Call on Him today to help you live above those weaknesses, that sin that takes you back.
I can name but a few, is it lies, fornication, swindling and cheating, masturbation, malice, hatred, whatever it might be, God will forgive you, as you confess to Him.
I pray for you, may this day mark a new birth of a strong and sincere walk with you and God in Jesus name.
The urge, the power, the hunger for sin is broken permanently from your life in Jesus name.
Remember Lot’s wife. Luke 17:32.
