Text Psalm 38:18-21
I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin. Many have become my enemies without cause those who hate me without reason are numerous. Those who repay my good with evil lodge accusations against me,
though I seek only to do what is good. Lord, do not forsake me; do not be far from me, my God. Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior.
Jesus has made us victorious. We are no longer slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness. As believers, we sometimes find ourselves persist in evil addictions because we are not yet troubled by our sins. Being troubled by your sin is far beyond sorrows from the lips, it is far beyond confessing and reconfessing, it is far beyond the sleepless nights spent thinking about those addictions. Being troubled by your sin is you reaching the breaking point.
The woman with the issue of blood reached the breaking point and touch the hem of Jesus’s garment, Samson reached the breaking point in prison and pulled down the pillars which led to the destruction of thousands of Gods enemy, blind Bartimaeus reached the breaking point and shouted the name of Jesus for help. Even when the crowd shouted blind Bartimaeus down, he kept calling on Jesus for help because he had reached his breaking point.
The breaking point is a point when you determine totally in your heart to lose everything just to get the victory you desire. It is a point when you are spiritually tired of that addiction, it is a point when you keep calling on Jesus no matter how difficult it may be.
The Christian race is not bread and butter, it is a battle for our souls. For this reason, we must fight to overcome sinful lust, we must be completely angry with Habitual sins and fight them even with our last drop of blood.
Your sins must trouble you in other for you to repent of them. The reason we have many confessions but no repentance is because we are not yet troubled by our sins. To be troubled by your sin, you must understand from the bible how God views that sin, how his heart bleeds because of that sin.
Prayer: Lord Jesus help me to be troubled by my sins and give me the grace and enablement to cast away all forms of evil addictions.
