Text: 1 Corinthians 9: 26. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
To be principled means to set out measures that will rule your life. A man of principle is a disciplined man, he leaves by the standard of God’s word.
Life is full of distractions and evil of high sort, for an effective spiritual walk with God, you must set up principles by the standard of God’s word for your own life.
The world might tell you that alcohol is not bad, but from your revelation of God’s word and intimacy with the Holy Spirit, you despise alcohol.
Living by your principle of ‘No Alcohol’ includes, not drinking, not buying for people that drinks, not welcoming friends with alcohol in your house, strictly prohibiting the use of it around you.
Again, you can set up a principle of no smoking, no fornication and avoid buying cigarettes for smokers and also avoid giving out your bedroom or house to friends for fornication.
A man of principle is a man of Integrity.
I was amazed even in my dream as I strictly restricted a friend from bringing in alcoholic beverages into my fridge.
As he wanted to store the drinks, I rebuked him not to ever put such brand of drink in my fridge or even around my house. In my words, I said, ‘I am principled, and I live by my principles’ and instantly he apologized and left.
You’ll be surprised how your spiritual walk and decision with God would affect everything about you, including your thoughts, your actions, your decisions and even in your dreams.
Living by principles is living the life of God.
Like an athlete Paul said, I discipline my body lest at the end I might be cast away.
You must discipline your body, tame your appetite and live by the standard of God’s word.
When you fail to discipline yourself, you will be tossed about easily by every new system and style of the world.
Do not let the world define your standard of living, but let God’s word be your standard of living.
Set up your principle from the revelation of God’s word.
Be disciplined, Be principled.
