Romans 3: 21-23
21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for fall have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
The bible reveals to us in Romans chapter 3 vs 23 that all men have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God (this means they are separated from the nature and presence of God). No man at all is righteous by himself. God gave men principles and laws, but men are still unable to fulfill the righteousness of God because of their sinful nature.
A man with sinful nature is separated from God; a man separated from God is dead. But you know what? I have good news for you; you have a way to no longer be dead but to live again. God’s grace revealed the love of God to men.
God gave man a way to be righteous; this way is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we can be righteous. We are not talking about faith in the law, nor in a religion, but faith in Jesus Christ.
The righteousness of God has been revealed through the gospel (the good news of His Kingdom). The law and the prophets testified of Jesus Christ, of His work and of the righteousness of God. This righteousness has been given to men through Jesus. The law has condemned but faith in Jesus Christ has set free.
Law Faith in Jesus-Christ (Grace)
Pointed sin and therefore Has set men free from sin and therefore
declared men guilty before God. God has declared men righteous.
Judgment (condemnation). Justification.
The law is holy but the incapability of men to fulfill it has rendered it ineffective. Faith as it is does not annihilate the law, it confirms it. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law for men, so that men by faith are able to fulfill the law of God through Him.
